Hi, I’m DJ Scott Dewing (or just Scott!), and hopefully, I’ll be looking after one of the most memorable days of your life so, I think it’s only fair that you get to know a little more about me. Home & Family Life
First and foremost I’m a family man and I’m very lucky to have the support of those nearest and dearest to me. My better half is Fern, not only is she beautiful, she keeps me organised, motivated and laughing (usually at rather than with her).
In May 2016 I became a Father to my Daughter Lyla-Marie. Since the day she was born, Lyla continues to light up every room she enters bringing smiles and laughter to everyone she meets. I couldn’t be more proud of this young lady.
In July 2023, following a heartbreaking five year journey. We were finally able to welcome Maisie, our beautiful rainbow baby into the world. We are absolutely over the moon and besotted with our little bundle of joy!
Being part of this incredible industry has given me the opportunity to watch my children grow and for that, I am truly grateful.
My DJ Background as DJ Scott Dewing
Around the age of 14, I was fascinated with the way in which people react to music. Not just what was played, but more when it was played and how it was played. You can give the same database of music to two separate DJs and depending on what they play and when will determine how well the audience reacts on the night.
I have built a wealth of experience not just from Weddings & Corporate Events but Birthdays, Bars & Nightclubs to name a few. The warm-up at the start of every event will tell me a lot about how the evening is going to flow. I am continuously looking for the subtle head bop, the tapping thumb or feet to guide me on the right genre for the audience in front of me which I can then build on to ensure everyone has an unforgettable night.
In my time as a DJ, I’ve played music across many decades and genres including the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s & 00s, to recent releases including RnB, Soul & Motown, House, Garage, Hip-Hop, Rock, Indie, Latino, Reggaeton, Dancehall and of course the Top 40 & Party Anthems.
Although most DJs will play across the board to ensure that everyone has a great night, they are also generally a specialist in a particular genre. Old Skool RnB, Dance & Garage – otherwise more commonly known as KISSTORY is what I’d consider to be my speciality as DJ Scott Dewing!
Hobbies & Interests
When the UK went in to lockdown on 23rd March 2020, I like every other supplier in the Wedding Industry had to stop working. This left me with a lot of free time and made me realise that I don’t actually have a proper hobby as such so, I decided that I needed one!
Saturday 22nd August 2020 I took to the skies on my first lesson to become a Helicopter Pilot and what an experience it was! I’ve got a long way to go before I come close to gaining my personal pilot’s licence but I’m very excited to be on that journey.
Since the UK lockdown lifted, the Wedding & Events Industry went absolutely manic, so my dream of becoming a helicopter pilot has temporarily taken a back seat. I’m hoping to take to the skies once again in 2024 to continue my new found hobby – I’ll be sure to keep you posted on my socials!
