DJ Scott Dewing - My Story
Hi, I’m Scott and hopefully I’ll be looking after one of the most memorable days of your life so, I think it’s only fair that you get to know a little more about me. If there is anything you’d like to know then please don’t hesitate to contact me – I’d love to hear from you.
Home & Family Life
First and foremost I’m a family man and I’m very lucky to have the support of those nearest and dearest to me. My better half is Fern, not only is she beautiful, she keeps me organised, motivated and laughing (usually at rather than with her).
In May 2016 I became a Father to my Daughter Lyla-Marie. Since the day she was born, Lyla continues to light up every room she enters bringing smiles and laughter to everyone she meets. I couldn’t be more proud of this young lady. Being part of this incredible industry has given me the opportuinity to watch her grow to this day and for that I am truly grateful.
I’m more of a Dog kinda guy but my partner wanted a Cat – we done what every successful relationship does and compromised – unfortunately we now have a Cat. She’s called Nellie – she’s lovely (when she’s asleep) let’s move on ha ha!
Hobbies & Interests
Although it’s something I haven’t been involved with for sometime – I’m determined to get back into Watersports. I grew up in a village called St. Osyth and spent the majority of my childhood down at the lake where I would Ski, Wakeboard and ride Jetskis. A little less free time and a lot more added weight has delayed my venture back but I’ll get there – one day.
In more recent years, I have spent more and more of my time looking into the process of building websites and I have a drone which makes an appearance every so often. I wouldn’t really call either of them a hobby but they do tend to take up a lot of my time.
My DJ Background
Around the age of 14 I was fascinated with the way in which people react to music. Not just what was played, but more when it was played and how it was played. You can give the same database of music to two separate DJs and depending on what they play and when will determine how well the audience reacts on the night.
I have built a wealth of experience not just from Weddings & Corporate Events but Birthdays, Bars & Nightclubs to name a few. The warm up at the start of every event will tell me a lot about how the evening is going to flow. I am continuosly looking for the suttle head bop, the tapping thumb or feet to guide me on the right genre for the audience in front of me which I can build on and ensure everyone has an incredible night.
In my time as a DJ, I’ve played music across many decades and genres including: 60s, 70s 80s, 90s, 00s to recent releases including RnB, Soul & Motown, House, Garage, Hip-Hop, Rock, Indie, Latino, Reggaeton, Dancehall and ofcourse the Top 40 & Party Anthems.
Although most DJs will play across the board to ensure that everyone has a great night, they are also generally a specialist in a particular genre. Old Skool RnB, Dance & Garage – otherwise known as KISSTORY is what i’d consider to be my speciality as a DJ.
Other Business Involvement
I’m also partner to the business Sweetness & Light. We design, build & hire a range of unique props for events such as Weddings, Birthdays & Special Occasions. These props include Light Up Letters, Numbers, Hearts and Wedding TV Displays. Our business started in January 2018 and by July 2019 we were asked to supply Light Up Letters to Sir Tom Jones concert at Castle Park, Colchester. It certainly won’t of been the first time he’s had his name up in lights but we felt this was a huge achievement for our second year in business.
We’ve got so many ideas that will soon be put into production and I’d love you to join us on our exciting journey. Check out our social media channels below.
